SEV Biblia, Chapter 12:29
y de la casa de Gilgal, y de los campos de Geba, y de Azmavet; porque los cantores se habían edificado aldeas alrededor de Jerusalén.
Clarke's Bible Commentary - Nehemiah 12:29
Verse 29. From the house of Gilgal, and out of the fields of Geba and Azmaveth] Or, from Beth-Gilgal; a village erected in the place where the Israelites encamped after they had, under the direction of Joshua, passed over Jordan.
John Gill's Bible Commentary
Ver. 29. Also from the house of Gilgal , etc.] Which likewise was in a champaign country in the plains of Jericho, ( Deuteronomy 11:30 Joshua 5:9,10), and out of the fields of Geba ; which was a Levitical city in the tribe of Benjamin, ( Joshua 21:17) and Azmaveth ; the same with Bethazmaveth, ( Nehemiah 7:28) where it follows Anathoth and Netophah, as it does in ( Ezra 2:24), and was very probably in the tribe of Benjamin: for the singers had builded them villages round about Jerusalem ; that they might be near it, to do their duty when required; by which it appears that the said places were near Jerusalem.
Matthew Henry Commentary
Verses 27-43 - All our cities, all our houses, must have holiness to the Lord writte upon them. The believer should undertake nothing which he does no dedicate to the Lord. We are concerned to cleanse our hands, and purif our hearts, when any work for God is to pass through them. Those tha would be employed to sanctify others, must sanctify themselves, and se themselves apart for God. To those who are sanctified, all their creature-comforts and enjoyments are made holy. The people greatl rejoiced. All that share in public mercies, ought to join in publi thanksgivings.
