Clarke's Bible Commentary - Psalms 103:32 Verse 32. He looketh on the earth ] Even the look of God terrifies all created nature! He toucheth the hills - So easy is it for God to burn up the earth and the worlds thereof, that even his touch kindles the mountains into flames! See Etna, Vesuvius, Stromboli, &c.; these are ignited by the touch of God. How majestic are these figures! The renewal of the earth, and re-creation of deceased animals, shall take place when he shall shake terribly the heavens and the earth; when they shall be wrapped together as a scroll, and the earth and its works be dissolved, that is, after the general convulsion and conflagration of the world.
Verses 31-35 - Man's glory is fading; God's glory is everlasting: creatures change but with the Creator there is no variableness. And if mediation on the glories of creation be so sweet to the soul, what greater glory appear to the enlightened mind, when contemplating the great work of redemption! There alone can a sinner perceive ground of confidence an joy in God. While he with pleasure upholds all, governs all, an rejoices in all his works, let our souls, touched by his grace meditate on and praise him __________________________________________________________________
