SEV Biblia, Chapter 19:9
El temor del SEŅOR es limpio, que permanece para siempre; los derechos del SEŅOR son verdad, todos justos.
Clarke's Bible Commentary - Psalms 18:9
Verse 9. The fear of the Lord ] hary yirah, from ary yara, to fear, to venerate; often put for the whole of Divine worship. The reverence we owe to the Supreme Being. Is clean ] hrwhf tehorah, from rhf tahar, to be pure, clean; not differing much from hrb barah, (see above,) to be clean and bright as the heavens; as purified SILVER. Its object is to purge away all defilement, to make a spotless character.
Enduring for ever ] d[l tdmw[ omedeth laad, standing up to PERPETUITY. The fear that prevents us from offending God, that causes us to reverence him, and is the beginning as it is the safeguard of wisdom, must be carried all through life. No soul is safe for a moment without it. It prevents departure from God, and keeps that clean which God has purified. This is ITS use.
The judgments of the Lord ] ĩyfpm mishpatim, from tp shaphat, he judged, regulated, disposed, All God's regulations, all his decisions; what he has pronounced to be right and proper.
Are true ] tma emeth, truth, from ĩa am, to support, confirm, make stable, and certain. This is the character of God's judgments. They shall all stand. All dispensations in providence and grace confirm them; they are certain, and have a fixed character.
And righteous altogether. ] They are not only according to truth; but they are righteous, wqdx tsadeku, they give to all their due. They show what belongs to God, to man, and to ourselves. And hence the word altogether, wdjy yachdav, equally, is added; or truth and righteousness united.
Matthew Henry Commentary
Verses 7-10 - The Holy Scripture is of much greater benefit to us than day or night than the air we breathe, or the light of the sun. To recover man out of his fallen state, there is need of the word of God. The word translate "law," may be rendered doctrine, and be understood as meaning all tha teaches us true religion. The whole is perfect; its tendency is to convert or turn the soul from sin and the world, to God and holiness It shows our sinfulness and misery in departing from God, and the necessity of our return to him. This testimony is sure, to be full depended on: the ignorant and unlearned believing what God saith become wise unto salvation. It is a sure direction in the way of duty It is a sure fountain of living comforts, and a sure foundation of lasting hopes. The statues of the Lord are right, just as they shoul be; and, because they are right, they rejoice the heart. The commandments of the Lord are pure, holy, just, and good. By them we discover our need of a Saviour; and then learn how to adorn his gospel They are the means which the Holy Spirit uses in enlightening the eyes they bring us to a sight and sense of our sin and misery, and direct u in the way of duty. The fear of the Lord, that is, true religion an godliness, is clean, it will cleanse our way; and it endureth for ever The ceremonial law is long since done away, but the law concerning the fear of God is ever the same. The judgments of the Lord, his precepts are true; they are righteous, and they are so altogether; there is n unrighteousness in any of them. Gold is only for the body, and the concerns of time; but grace is for the soul, and the concerns of eternity. The word of God, received by faith, is more precious tha gold; it is sweet to the soul, sweeter than honey. The pleasure of sense soon surfeit, yet never satisfy; but those of religion ar substantial and satisfying; there is no danger of excess.
