SEV Biblia, Chapter 19:25
¿Nunca has oído que desde largo tiempo atrás la hice yo, y de días antiguos la he formado? Y ahora la he hecho venir, y será para destrucción de ciudades fuertes en montones de ruinas.
Clarke's Bible Commentary - 2 Kings 19:25
Verse 25. Hast thou not heard] Here Jehovah speaks, and shows this boasting king that what he had done was done by the Divine appointment, and that of his own counsel and might he could have done nothing. It was because God had appointed them to this civil destruction that he had overcome them; and it was not through his might; for God had made their inhabitants of small power, so that he only got the victory over men whom God had confounded, dismayed, and enervated, ver. 26.
Matthew Henry Commentary
Verses 20-34 - All Sennacherib's motions were under the Divine cognizance. God himsel undertakes to defend the city; and that person, that place, cannot but be safe, which he undertakes to protect. The invasion of the Assyrian probably had prevented the land from being sown that year. The next is supposed to have been the sabbatical year, but the Lord engaged tha the produce of the land should be sufficient for their support durin those two years. As the performance of this promise was to be after the destruction of Sennacherib's army, it was a sign to Hezekiah's faith assuring him of that present deliverance, as an earnest of the Lord' future care of the kingdom of Judah. This the Lord would perform, no for their righteousness, but his own glory. May our hearts be as goo ground, that his word may strike root therein, and bring forth fruit in our lives.
