King James Bible - Isaiah 34:15

There shall the great owl make her nest, and lay, and hatch, and gather under her shadow: there shall the vultures also be gathered, every one with her mate.

World English Bible

The arrow snake will make her nest there, and lay, hatch, and gather under her shade. Yes, the kites will be gathered there, every one with her mate.

Douay-Rheims - Isaiah 34:15

There hath the ericius had its hole, and brought up its young ones, and hath dug round about, and cherished them in the shadow thereof: thither are the kites gathered together one to another.

Webster's Bible Translation

There shall the great owl make her nest, and lay, and hatch, and gather under her shadow: there shall the vultures also be gathered, every one with her mate.

VERSE (15) -
Ps 104:17 Jer 48:28 Eze 31:6

SEV Biblia, Chapter 34:15

Allí anidará el cuclillo, conservará sus huevos , y sacará sus pollos, y los juntará debajo de sus alas. También se ayuntarán allí buitres, cada uno con su compañera.

Clarke's Bible Commentary - Isaiah 34:15

Verse 15. The great owl] zwpq kippoz, the akontiav, or darter, a
serpent so called because of its suddenly leaping up or darting on its prey.

Probably the mongoz or ichneumon may be intended.

The vultures] twyd daiyoth, the black vultures. My old MS. Bible renders these names curiously: And ageyn cumen schul devylis: the beste, party of an asse, and party of a mam: and the wodwose, the tother schal crien to the tother. There schal byn lamya, that is, thrisse, or a beste, havynge the body liic a woman, and hors feet. Ther hadde dichis, the yrchoun, and nurshide out littil chittis. There ben gadred kiitis, the top to the top. What language! Every one with her mate.] A MS. adds la el after ha ishshah, which seems necessary to the construction; and so the Syriac and Vulgate.

Another MS. adds in the same place ta eth, which is equivalent.

Matthew Henry Commentary
God's vengeance against the enemies of his church. (Is. 34:1-8) Their desolation. (Is. 34:9-17)

Is. 34:1-8 Here is a prophecy of the wars of the Lord, all which ar both righteous and successful. All nations are concerned. And as the have all had the benefit of his patience, so all must expect to fee his resentment. The description of bloodshed suggests tremendous idea of the Divine judgments. Idumea here denotes the nations at enmity with the church; also the kingdom of antichrist. Our thoughts cannot reac the horrors of that awful season, to those found opposing the church of Christ. There is a time fixed in the Divine counsels for the deliverance of the church, and the destruction of her enemies. We mus patiently wait till then, and judge nothing before the time. Throug Christ, mercy is exercised to every believer, consistently with justice, and his name is glorified.

Is. 34:9-17 Those who aim to ruin the church, can never do that, but will ruin themselves. What dismal changes sin can make! It turns fruitful land into barrenness, a crowded city into a wilderness. Let u compare all we discover in the book of the Lord, with the dealings of providence around us, that we may be more diligent in seeking the kingdom of God and his righteousness. What the mouth of the Lord ha commanded, his Spirit will perform. And let us observe how the evidences of the truth continually increase, as one prophecy afte another is fulfilled, until these awful scenes bring in more happ days. As Israel was a figure of the Christian church, so the Edomites their bitter enemies, represent the enemies of the kingdom of Christ God's Jerusalem may be laid in ruins for a time, but the enemies of the church shall be desolate for ever __________________________________________________________________
