SEV Biblia, Chapter 34:6
Llena está de sangre la espada del SEÑOR, engrasada está de grosura, de sangre de corderos y de cabritos, de grosura de riñones de carneros; porque el SEÑOR tiene sacrificio en Bosra, y grande matanza en tierra de Edom.
Clarke's Bible Commentary - Isaiah 34:6
Verse 6. The Lord hath a sacrifice "For JEHOVAH celebrateth a sacrifice"] Ezekiel, chap. xxxix. 16, 17, has manifestly imitated this place of Isaiah. He hath set forth the great leaders and princes of the adverse powers under the same emblems of goats, bulls, rams, fatlings, &c., and has added to the boldness of the imagery, by introducing God as summoning all the fowls of the air, and all the beasts of the field, and bidding them to the feast which he has prepared for them by the slaughter of the enemies of his people:- "And thou, son of man, Thus saith the Lord JEHOVAH, Say to the bird of every wing, And to every beast of the field: Assemble yourselves, and come; Gather together from every side, To the sacrifice which I make for you, A great slaughter on the mountains of Israel. And ye shall eat flesh and drink blood: The flesh of the mighty shall ye eat, And the blood of the lofty of the earth shall ye drink; Of rams, of lambs, and of goats, Of bullocks, all of them the fat ones of Bashan; And ye shall eat fat, till ye are cloyed, And drink blood, till ye are drunken; Of my slaughter, which I have slain for you." The sublime author of the Revelation, chap. xix. 17, 18, has taken this image from Ezekiel, rather than from Isaiah.
Matthew Henry Commentary
God's vengeance against the enemies of his church. (Is. 34:1-8) Their desolation. (Is. 34:9-17)
Is. 34:1-8 Here is a prophecy of the wars of the Lord, all which ar both righteous and successful. All nations are concerned. And as the have all had the benefit of his patience, so all must expect to fee his resentment. The description of bloodshed suggests tremendous idea of the Divine judgments. Idumea here denotes the nations at enmity with the church; also the kingdom of antichrist. Our thoughts cannot reac the horrors of that awful season, to those found opposing the church of Christ. There is a time fixed in the Divine counsels for the deliverance of the church, and the destruction of her enemies. We mus patiently wait till then, and judge nothing before the time. Throug Christ, mercy is exercised to every believer, consistently with justice, and his name is glorified.
Is. 34:9-17 Those who aim to ruin the church, can never do that, but will ruin themselves. What dismal changes sin can make! It turns fruitful land into barrenness, a crowded city into a wilderness. Let u compare all we discover in the book of the Lord, with the dealings of providence around us, that we may be more diligent in seeking the kingdom of God and his righteousness. What the mouth of the Lord ha commanded, his Spirit will perform. And let us observe how the evidences of the truth continually increase, as one prophecy afte another is fulfilled, until these awful scenes bring in more happ days. As Israel was a figure of the Christian church, so the Edomites their bitter enemies, represent the enemies of the kingdom of Christ God's Jerusalem may be laid in ruins for a time, but the enemies of the church shall be desolate for ever __________________________________________________________________
