SEV Biblia, Chapter 2:7
pues el SEÑOR tu Dios te ha bendecido en toda obra de tus manos; él sabe que andas por este gran desierto; estos cuarenta años el SEÑOR tu Dios fue contigo; y ninguna cosa te ha faltado.
Clarke's Bible Commentary - Deuteronomy 2:7
Verse 7. The Lord-hath blessed thee, &c.] God had given them much property, and therefore they had no need of plunder; they had gold and silver to buy the provender they needed, and therefore God would not permit them to take any thing by violence.
John Gill's Bible Commentary
Ver. 7. For the Lord thy God hath blessed thee in all the works of thine hands , etc.] Had increased their cattle and substance, even though in a wilderness: he knoweth thy walking through this great wilderness ; every step they took, and he owned them and prospered them in all things in which they were concerned: these forty years the Lord thy God hath been with thee : not only to protect and defend them, but to provide all things necessary for them. This number of years was not fully completed, but the round number is given instead of the broken one: thou hast lacked nothing : and since they had wherewith to pay for their food and drink, they are directed to do it, and not take anything from the Edomites in an unjust way; nor make themselves look poor when they were rich, as Jarchi says.
Matthew Henry Commentary
Verses 1-7 - Only a short account of the long stay of Israel in the wilderness i given. God not only chastised them for their murmuring and unbelief but prepared them for Canaan; by humbling them for sin, teaching the to mortify their lusts, to follow God, and to comfort themselves in him. Though Israel may be long kept waiting for deliverance an enlargement, it will come at last. Before God brought Israel to destro their enemies in Canaan, he taught them to forgive their enemies i Edom. They must not, under pretence of God's covenant and conduct think to seize all they could lay hands on. Dominion is not founded i grace. God's Israel shall be well placed, but must not expect to be placed alone in the midst of the earth. Religion must never be made cloak for injustice. Scorn to be beholden to Edomites, when thou has an all-sufficient God to depend upon. Use what thou hast, use i cheerfully. Thou hast experienced the care of the Divine providence never use any crooked methods for thy supply. All this is equally to be applied to the experience of the believer.
