SEV Biblia, Chapter 18:11
Ahora conozco que el SEÑOR es grande más que todos los dioses; porque en lo que se ensoberbecieron prevaleció contra ellos.
Clarke's Bible Commentary - Exodus 18:11
Verse 11. Now I know that the Lord is greater than all gods] Some think that Jethro was now converted to the true God; but it is very probable that he enjoyed this blessing before he knew any thing of Moses, for it is not likely that Moses would have entered into an alliance with this family had they been heathens. Jethro no doubt had the true patriarchal religion. Wherein they dealt proudly] Acting as tyrants over the people of God; enslaving them in the most unprincipled manner, and still purposing more tyrannical acts. He was above them - he showed himself to be infinitely superior to all their gods, by the miracles which he wrought. Various translations have been given of this clause; the above I believe to be the sense.
Matthew Henry Commentary
Verses 7-12 - Conversation concerning God's wondrous works is good, and edifies Jethro not only rejoiced in the honour done to his son-in-law, but in all the goodness done to Israel. Standers-by were more affected with the favours God had showed to Israel, than many were who received them Jethro gave the glory to Israel's God. Whatever we have the joy of, God must have the praise. They joined in a sacrifice of thanksgiving Mutual friendship is sanctified by joint worship. It is very good for relations and friends to join in the spiritual sacrifice of prayer an praise, as those that meet in Christ. This was a temperate feast; the did eat bread, manna. Jethro must see and taste that bread from heaven and though a gentile, is welcome: the gentiles are welcomed to Chris the Bread of life.
