From Ekron even unto the sea , etc.] The Mediterranean sea, or the west, as the Targum: all that [lay] near Ashdod, with their villages ; this is the Azotus of the New Testament, ( Acts 8:40), another of the principalities of the Philistines, of which and Ekron (see Gill on “Amos 1:8”) and (see Gill on “ Zephaniah 2:4”).
