El término del oriente es el mar Salado hasta el fin del Jordán. Y el término de la parte del norte, desde la lengua del mar, desde el fin del Jordán;

Verse 5. The east border was the Salt Sea] The Salt Sea is the same as the Dead Sea, lake Asphaltites, &c. And here it is intimated that the eastern border of the tribe of Judah extended along the Dead Sea, from its lowest extremity to the end of Jordan, i.e., to the place where Jordan falls into this sea.
John Gill's Bible Commentary
Ver. 5. And the east border [was] the salt sea, [even] unto the end of Jordan , etc.] To the place where Jordan fell into it; so that this border was the whole length of the salt sea, which Josephus says was five hundred eighty furlongs; and, according to Pliny f296 , an hundred miles: and [their] border in the north quarter [was] from the bay of the sea , at the uttermost part of Jordan ; this northern border began where the eastern ended, at the bay or creek of the sea, where Jordan fell into it.
Matthew Henry Commentary
Verses 1-12 - Joshua allotted to Judah, Ephraim, and the half of Manasseh, their inheritances before they left Gilgal. Afterwards removing to Shiloh another survey was made, and the other tribes had their portio assigned. In due time all God's people are settled.
