Clarke's Bible Commentary - Psalms 106:12 Verse 12. He brought down their heart with labour ] He delivered them into the hands of their enemies. and, as they would not be under subjection to GOD, he delivered them into slavery to wicked men: "So they fell down, and there was none to help ;" God had forsaken them because they had forsaken him.
Matthew Henry Commentary Verses 10-16 - This description of prisoners and captives intimates that they ar desolate and sorrowful. In the eastern prisons the captives were an are treated with much severity. Afflicting providences must be improve as humbling providences; and we lose the benefit, if our hearts ar unhumbled and unbroken under them. This is a shadow of the sinner' deliverance from a far worse confinement. The awakened sinner discover his guilt and misery. Having struggled in vain for deliverance, he finds there is no help for him but in the mercy and grace of God. Hi sin is forgiven by a merciful God, and his pardon is accompanied by deliverance from the power of sin and Satan, and by the sanctifying an comforting influences of God the Holy Spirit.
