King James Bible - Psalms 144:14

That our oxen may be strong to labour; that there be no breaking in, nor going out; that there be no complaining in our streets.

World English Bible

Our oxen will pull heavy loads. There is no breaking in, and no going away, and no outcry in our streets.

Douay-Rheims - Psalms 144:14

their oxen fat. There is no breach of wall, nor passage, nor crying out in their streets.

Webster's Bible Translation

That our oxen may be strong to labor; that there be no breaking in, nor going out; that there be no complaining in our streets.

Original Hebrew

SEV Biblia, Chapter 144:14

que nuestros bueyes estén fuertes para el trabajo; que no tengamos asalto, ni que hacer salida, ni grito de alarma en nuestras plazas.

Clarke's Bible Commentary - Psalms 143:14

Verse 14. Our
oxen may be strong to labour ] We have not only an abundance of cattle; but they are of the most strong and vigorous breed.

No breaking in ] So well ordered is the police of the kingdom, that there are no depredations, no robbers, house- breakers, or marauding parties, in the land; no sudden incursions of neighbouring tribes or banditti breaking into fields or houses, carrying away property, and taking with them the people to sell them into captivity: there is no such breaking in, and no such going out, in the nation. My enemies are either become friends, and are united with me in political interests; or are, through fear, obliged to stand aloof.

Matthew Henry Commentary

Verses 9-15 - Fresh favours call for fresh returns of thanks; we must praise God for the mercies we hope for by his promise, as well as those we have received by his providence. To be saved from the hurtful sword, or from wasting sickness, without deliverance from the dominion of sin and the wrath to come, is but a small advantage. The public prosperity Davi desired for his people, is stated. It adds much to the comfort an happiness of parents in this world, to see their children likely to d well. To see them as plants, not as weeds, not as thorns; to see the as plants growing, not withered and blasted; to see them likely to bring forth fruit unto God in their day; to see them in their yout growing strong in the Spirit. Plenty is to be desired, that we may be thankful to God, generous to our friends, and charitable to the poor otherwise, what profit is it to have our garners full? Also uninterrupted peace. War brings abundance of mischiefs, whether it be to attack others or to defend ourselves. And in proportion as we do no adhere to the worship and service of God, we cease to be a happ people. The subjects of the Saviour, the Son of David, share the blessings of his authority and victories, and are happy because the have the Lord for their God __________________________________________________________________
