SEV Biblia, Chapter 19:19
Y dijo al rey: No me impute mi señor mi iniquidad, ni tengas memoria de los males que tu siervo hizo el día que mi señor el rey salió de Jerusalén, para guardarlos el rey en su corazón;
John Gill's Bible Commentary
Ver. 19. And said unto the king, let not my lord the king impute iniquity unto me , etc.] That is, deal with him according to the desert of it, punish him for it, but forgive it: for non-imputation of sin is in effect the pardon of it: neither do thou remember that which thy servant did perversely the day my lord the king went out of Jerusalem : he desires that he would not only forgive, but forget it; he owns it was a perverse action, and aggravated by being done at the time when the king was in great trouble and distress: that the king should take it to his heart ; and determine to avenge himself on him for it.
Matthew Henry Commentary
Verses 16-23 - Those who now slight and abuse the Son of David, would be glad to make their peace when he shall come in his glory; but it will be too late Shimei lost no time. His abuse had been personal, and with the usua right feeling of good men, David could more easily forgive it.
