VERSE (42) -
Mt 27:57,62 Lu 23:50-54 Joh 19:38

SEV Biblia, Chapter 15:42

¶ Y cuando fue la tarde, porque era la preparacin, es decir, la víspera del sbado,

Clarke's Bible Commentary - Mark 15:42

Verse 42. The day before the
Sabbath] What we would call Friday evening. As the law of Moses had ordered that no criminal should continue hanging on a tree or gibbet till the setting of the sun, Joseph, fearing that the body of our Lord might be taken down, and thrown into the common grave with the two robbers, came and earnestly entreated Pilate to deliver it to him, that he might bury it in his own new tomb. See on Matt. xxvii. 56, 60.

John Gill's Bible Commentary

Ver. 42. And now when the even was come , etc..] Of the preparation, as the Syriac version reads; or the night of the sixth day:, as the Persic version renders it, Friday night: because it was the
preparation ; of the passover, and of the sabbath, when they prepared their food, and got it ready for the ensuing sabbath, on which it was not lawful to dress any; that is, the day before the sabbath ; that is, Friday; on which day, it is clear, Christ suffered, died, and was buried.

Matthew Henry Commentary

Verses 42-47 - We are here attending the
burial of our Lord Jesus. Oh that we may be grace be planted in the likeness of it! Joseph of Arimathea was one wh waited for the kingdom of God. Those who hope for a share in it privileges, must own Christ's cause, when it seems to be crushed. Thi man God raised up for his service. There was a special providence, tha Pilate should be so strict in his inquiry, that there might be n pretence to say Jesus was alive. Pilate gave Joseph leave to take dow the body, and do what he pleased with it. Some of the women behel where Jesus was laid, that they might come after the sabbath to anoin the dead body, because they had not time to do it before. Specia notice was taken of Christ's sepulchre, because he was to rise again And he will not forsake those who trust in him, and call upon him Death, deprived of its sting, will soon end the believer's sorrows, a it ended those of the Saviour __________________________________________________________________

Vincent's NT Word Studies

42. Even. See on
Matt. xxvii. 57.

The day before the Sabbath (prosabbaton). The fore Sabbath. Peculiar to Mark, and only here.

Robertson's NT Word Studies

15:42 {The preparation} (paraskeue). Mark explains the term as meaning "the day before the sabbath" (prosabbaton), that is our Friday, which began at sunset. See discussion on Mt 27:57. The Jews had already taken steps to get the bodies removed (#Joh 19:31).
