De la manera que el SEÑOR ha sido con mi señor el rey, así sea con Salomón; y él haga mayor su trono que el trono de mi señor el rey David.
Clarke's Bible Commentary - 1 Kings 1:37
Verse 37. Make his throne greater than the throne of-David.] A wish of this kind a king will suffer in behalf of his son, but it is never in ordinary cases considered a compliment to say, "I hope this child will make a better man than his father," because it seems to insinuate some reflections on his father's conduct or character. Many foolish people deal in such compliments, and they may rest assured, for the reasons given above, that they are far from being either welcome or agreeable. Claudian, in his panegyric Deuteronomy Quarto Consulatu honourii Augusti, ver. 428, has words something similar to those of Benaiah, when he describes a father, worn out with toils and difficulties, committing the reins of government to the hands of his son:- Adspice, completur votum: jam natus adaequat Te meritis; et, quod magis est optabile, vincit.
"Behold, thy desire is accomplished.
Even now thy son equals thee in worth; and what is still more desirable, surpasses thee."

Verses 32-53 - The people expressed great joy and satisfaction in the elevation of Solomon. Every true Israelite rejoices in the exaltation of the Son of David. Combinations formed upon evil principles will soon be dissolved when self-interest calls another way. How can those who do evil deed expect to have good tidings? Adonijah had despised Solomon, but soo dreaded him. We see here, as in a glass, Jesus, the Son of David an the Son of God, exalted to the throne of glory, notwithstanding all his enemies. His kingdom is far greater than that of his father David, an therein all the true people of God cordially rejoice. The prosperity of his cause is vexation and terror to his enemies. No horns of the altar nor forms of godliness, nor pretences to religion, can profit those wh will not submit to His authority, and accept of his salvation; and in their submission be hypocritical, they shall perish without remedy __________________________________________________________________
