SEV Biblia, Chapter 1:42 Estando aún él hablando, he aquí Jonatán hijo de Abiatar sacerdote vino, al cual dijo Adonías: Entra, porque tú eres hombre de esfuerzo, y traerás buenas nuevas.
John Gill's Bible Commentary Ver. 42. And while he yet spake, behold, Jonathan the son of Abiathar the priest came , etc.] Whom his father had left in the city, to observe what passed there, and give him notice of it: and Adonijah said unto him, come in, for thou [art] a valiant man, and bringest good tidings ; which seems to be not a very wise speech, as if there was a connection between being valiant, and bringing good news, or that the one had any influence upon the other; though perhaps it means no more than a good man, “a man of virtue” f16 , as it may be rendered; one that fears sin, as the Targum, and so would report nothing but what was true, and therefore might be depended on; (see 2 Samuel 18:27); the same phrase is rendered “a worthy man”, ( 1 Kings 1:52).
Matthew Henry Commentary Verses 32-53 - The people expressed great joy and satisfaction in the elevation of Solomon. Every true Israelite rejoices in the exaltation of the Son of David. Combinations formed upon evil principles will soon be dissolved when self-interest calls another way. How can those who do evil deed expect to have good tidings? Adonijah had despised Solomon, but soo dreaded him. We see here, as in a glass, Jesus, the Son of David an the Son of God, exalted to the throne of glory, notwithstanding all his enemies. His kingdom is far greater than that of his father David, an therein all the true people of God cordially rejoice. The prosperity of his cause is vexation and terror to his enemies. No horns of the altar nor forms of godliness, nor pretences to religion, can profit those wh will not submit to His authority, and accept of his salvation; and in their submission be hypocritical, they shall perish without remedy __________________________________________________________________
