What man is he that feareth the LORD? him shall he teach in the way that he shall choose.

Clarke's Bible Commentary - Psalms 24:12

Verse 12. That feareth the Lord ] Who has a proper apprehension of his holiness, justice, and truth; and who, at the same time, sees himself a fallen spirit, and a transgressor of God's holy law, and consequently under the curse. That is the person that truly and reverently fears God.

Him shall he teach ] Such a person has a teachable spirit.

The way that he shall choose. ] The way that in the course of Providence he has chosen, as the way in which he is to gain things honest in the sight of all men; God will bless him in it, and give him as much earthly prosperity as may be useful to his soul in his secular vocation.

Matthew Henry Commentary

Verses 8-14 - We are all sinners; and Christ came into the world to save sinners, to teach sinners, to call sinners to repentance. We value a promise by the character of him that makes it; we therefore depend upon God' promises. All the paths of the Lord, that is, all his promises and all his providences, are mercy and truth. In all God's dealings his people may see his mercy displayed, and his word fulfilled, whateve afflictions they are now exercised with. All the paths of the Lord ar mercy and truth; and so it will appear when they come to their journey's end. Those that are humble, that distrust themselves, an desire to be taught and to follow Divine guidance, these he will guid in judgment, that is, by the rule of the written word, to find rest for their souls in the Saviour. Even when the body is sick, and in pain the soul may be at ease in God.
