King James Bible - Job 30:14

They came upon me as a wide breaking in of waters: in the desolation they rolled themselves upon me.

World English Bible

As through a wide breach they come, in the midst of the ruin they roll themselves in.

Douay-Rheims - Job 30:14

They have rushed in upon me, as when a wall is broken, and a gate opened, and have rolled themselves down to my miseries.

Webster's Bible Translation

They came upon me as a wide breaking in of waters: in the desolation they rolled themselves upon me.

Original Hebrew

Job 22:16 Ps 18:4; 69:14,15 Isa 8:7,8

SEV Biblia, Chapter 30:14

Vinieron como por portillo ancho, se revolvieron por mi calamidad.

Clarke's Bible Commentary - Job 30:14

Verse 14. They came upon me as a wide
breaking in ] They storm me on every side.

In the desolation they rolled themselves ] When they had made the breach, they rolled in upon me as an irresistible torrent. There still appears to be an allusion to a besieged city: the sap, the breach, the storm, the flight, the pursuit, and the slaughter. See the following verse.

Matthew Henry Commentary

Verses 1-14 - Job contrasts his present condition with his former honour an authority. What little cause have men to be ambitious or proud of tha which may be so easily lost, and what little confidence is to be put in it! We should not be cast down if we are despised, reviled, and hate by wicked men. We should look to Jesus, who endured the contradictio of sinners.
