King James Bible - Exodus 32:12

Wherefore should the Egyptians speak, and say, For mischief did he bring them out, to slay them in the mountains, and to consume them from the face of the earth? Turn from thy fierce wrath, and repent of this evil against thy people.

World English Bible

Why should the Egyptians speak, saying, 'He brought them forth for evil, to kill them in the mountains, and to consume them from the surface of the earth?' Turn from your fierce wrath, and repent of this evil against your people.

Douay-Rheims - Exodus 32:12

Let not the Egyptians say, I beseech thee: He craftily brought them out, that he might kill them in the mountains, and destroy them from the earth: let thy anger cease, and be appeased upon the wickedness of thy people.

Webster's Bible Translation

Why should the Egyptians speak and say, For evil did he bring them out, to slay them in the mountains, and to consume them from the face of the earth? Turn from thy fierce wrath, and repent of this evil against thy people.

SEV Biblia, Chapter 32:12

¿Por qué han de hablar los egipcios, diciendo: Para mal los sacó, para matarlos en los montes, y para raerlos de sobre la faz de la tierra? Vuélvete del furor de tu ira, y arrepiéntete del mal de tu pueblo.

Matthew Henry Commentary

Verses 7-14 -
God says to Moses, that the Israelites had corrupted themselves. Sin is the corruption of the sinner, and it is a self-corruption; every man i tempted when he is drawn aside of his own lust. They had turned asid out of the way. Sin is a departing from the way of duty into a by-path They soon forgot God's works. He sees what they cannot discover, nor i any wickedness of the world hid from him. We could not bear to see the thousandth part of that evil which God sees every day. God expresse the greatness of his just displeasure, after the manner of men wh would have prayer of Moses could save them from ruin; thus he was type of Christ, by whose mediation alone, God would reconcile the worl to himself. Moses pleads God's glory. The glorifying God's name, as it ought to be our first petition, and it is so in the Lord's prayer, s it ought to be our great plea. And God's promises are to be our plea in prayer; for what he has promised he is able to perform. See the power of prayer. In answer to the prayers of Moses, God showed his purpose of sparing the people, as he had before seemed determined of their destruction; which change of the outward discovery of his purpose, is called repenting of the evil.
