SEV Biblia, Chapter 11:24

Marta le dice: Yo s que resucitar en la resurreccin en el día postrero.

Clarke's Bible Commentary - John 11:24

Verse 24. I know that he shall rise again in the resurrection] The
doctrine of the resurrection of the dead was then commonly received; and though it was our Lord who fully exemplified it by his own resurrection, yet the opinion was common, not only among God's people, but among all those who believed in the God of Israel. The Jewish writings after the captivity are full of this doctrine. See 2 Macc. vii. 9, 14, 23, 36; xii. 43; xiv. 46; Wisd. v. 1, 7, 17; vi. 6, 7. See also Josephus and the Targums, passim.

John Gill's Bible Commentary

Ver. 24.
Martha saith unto him , etc.] Being desirous of knowing the sense and meaning of Christ, as well as to express her own faith; I know that he shall rise again in the resurrection, at the last day . The Jews were divided about the doctrine of the resurrection, the Sadducees denied it, the Pharisees asserted it; and on this latter side was Martha; she believed there would be a resurrection of the dead; that this would be at the last day, or at the end of the world; and that her brother would rise at that general resurrection: wherefore, if Christ meant no more than that, this was what she always believed. The Syriac version renders it, in the consolation at the last day; and so the time of the resurrection is, by the Jews, called the days of consolation f497 . And good reason there is for it in those who shall have part in the first resurrection, or come forth to the resurrection of life; their bodies will rise glorious, powerful, spiritual, and incorruptible, fashioned like to the glorious body of Christ; they will no more be attended with infirmities, disorders, and diseases; they will feel no more pain, nor die any more; being reunited to their souls they will meet the Lord in the air, and in the judgment they will stand at his right hand; they will enter into his joy, and be for ever with him; with their bodily eyes they will behold Christ, and see him for themselves, and not another; they will meet their spiritual friends and acquaintance, and enjoy their company for ever; they will have uninterrupted communion with angels and saints, and with God, Father, Son, and Spirit; their consolation will be inconceivable and inexpressible.

Matthew Henry Commentary

Verses 17-32 - Here was a
house where the fear of God was, and on which his blessin rested; yet it was made a house of mourning. Grace will keep sorro from the heart, but not from the house. When God, by his grace an providence, is coming towards us in ways of mercy and comfort, we should, like Martha, go forth by faith, hope, and prayer, to meet him When Martha went to meet Jesus, Mary sat still in the house; thi temper formerly had been an advantage to her, when it put her a Christ's feet to hear his word; but in the day of affliction, the sam temper disposed her to melancholy. It is our wisdom to watch agains the temptations, and to make use of the advantages of our natura tempers. When we know not what in particular to ask or expect, let u refer ourselves to God; let him do as seemeth him good. To enlarg Martha's expectations, our Lord declared himself to be the Resurrectio and the Life. In every sense he is the Resurrection; the source, the substance, the first-fruits, the cause of it. The redeemed soul live after death in happiness; and after the resurrection, both body an soul are kept from all evil for ever. When we have read or heard the word of Christ, about the great things of the other world, we shoul put it to ourselves, Do we believe this truth? The crosses and comfort of this present time would not make such a deep impression upon us a they do, if we believed the things of eternity as we ought. When Chris our Master comes, he calls for us. He comes in his word and ordinances and calls us to them, calls us by them, calls us to himself. Those who in a day of peace, set themselves at Christ's feet to be taught by him may with comfort, in a day of trouble, cast themselves at his feet, to find favour with him.
