SEV Biblia, Chapter 7:18

Y les dijo: ¿Tambin vosotros estis así sin entendimiento? ¿No entendis que todo lo de fuera que entra en el hombre, no le puede contaminar?

John Gill's Bible Commentary

Ver. 18. And he saith unto them , etc..] With some warmth of spirit and resentment, at their stupidity: are ye so without understanding also ? As well as others, and to such a degree; and yet, as Matthew expresses it, (
Matthew 15:16), so wretchedly stupid, and so long, and as much, as others: do ye not perceive ? common sense will tell you, that whatsoever thing from, without entereth into the man, it cannot defile him ; (see Gill on Matthew 15:16).

Matthew Henry Commentary

Verses 14-23 - Our
wicked thoughts and affections, words and actions, defile us, an these only. As a corrupt fountain sends forth corrupt streams, so doe a corrupt heart send forth corrupt reasonings, corrupt appetites an passions, and all the wicked words and actions that come from them. spiritual understanding of the law of God, and a sense of the evil of sin, will cause a man to seek for the grace of the Holy Spirit, to kee down the evil thoughts and affections that work within.

Vincent's NT Word Studies

18. So. So unintelligent as not to understand what I uttered to the
crowd.

Robertson's NT Word Studies

7:18 {Are ye so without understanding also?} (houtws kai humeis asunetoi este;). See on Mt 15:16. You also as well as the multitude. It was a discouraging moment for the great
Teacher if his own chosen pupils (disciples) were still under the spell of the Pharisaic theological outlook. It was a riddle to them. "They had been trained in Judaism, in which the distinction between clean and unclean is ingrained, and could not understand a statement abrogating this " (Gould). They had noticed that the Pharisees stumbled at the parable of Jesus (#Mt 15:12). They were stumbling themselves and did not know how to answer the Pharisees. Jesus charges the disciples with intellectual dulness and spiritual stupidity.
