SEV Biblia, Chapter 9:31

Porque iba enseando a sus discípulos, y les decía: El Hijo del hombre es entregado en manos de hombres, y le matarn; mas muerto l , resucitar al tercer día.

John Gill's Bible Commentary

Ver. 31. For he taught his
disciples, and said unto them , etc..] What he had some little time before suggested to them; (see Mark 8:31). The son of man is delivered into the hands of men : in one of Beza's copies it is read, sinful men, as in ( Luke 24:7) and so the Persic version reads here, and adds rebellious. This is represented as if it was already done, because it was determined and agreed upon, that it should be; and because, in a very little time, the son of man would be delivered into the hands of wicked men, according to the will of God, with his own consent, by the means of Judas, the Jews, and Pilate: and they shall kill him ; put him to death, in a violent manner, contrary to all law and justice: and after that he is killed ; this is omitted in the Arabic version, and in the Persic version in the room of it it is read, and shall put him into a sepulchre; that being what followed next upon his death: and he shall rise the third day . This Christ always takes care to mention, for the comfort of his disciples, when he tells them of his death.

Matthew Henry Commentary

Verses 30-40 - The time of
Christ's suffering drew nigh. Had he been delivered int the hands of devils, and they had done this, it had not been s strange; but that men should thus shamefully treat the Son of man, wh came to redeem and save them, is wonderful. Still observe that when Christ spake of his death, he always spake of his resurrection, whic took the reproach of it from himself, and should have taken the grie of it from his disciples. Many remain ignorant because they are ashame to inquire. Alas! that while the Saviour teaches so plainly the thing which belong to his love and grace, men are so blinded that the understand not his sayings. We shall be called to account about ou discourses, and to account for our disputes, especially about being greater than others. Those who are most humble and self-denying, mos resemble Christ, and shall be most tenderly owned by him. This Jesu taught them by a sign; whoever shall receive one like this child receives me. Many have been like the disciples, ready to silence me who have success in preaching to sinners repentance in Christ's name because they follow not with them. Our Lord blamed the apostles reminding them that he who wrought miracles in his name would not be likely to hurt his cause. If sinners are brought to repent, to believ in the Saviour, and to live sober, righteous, and godly lives, we the see that the Lord works by the preacher.

Vincent's NT Word Studies

31. He taught (edidasken). The Rev. would have done better to give the force of the imperfect here: He was teaching. He sought seclusion because he was engaged for the time in instructing. The teaching was the continuation of the "began to
teach " (viii. 31).

Is delivered. The present tense is graphic. The future is realized by the Lord as already present. See on Matt. xxvi. 2.

33-35. Peculiar to Mark.

Robertson's NT Word Studies

9:31 {For he taught} (edidasken gar). Imperfect tense, and the reason given for secrecy. He was renewing again definitely the prediction of his death in Jerusalem some six months ahead as he had done before (#Mr 8:31; Mt 16:21; Lu 9:22). Now as qen Jesus foretells his resurrection "after three days" ("the third day," #Mt 17:23).
