VERSE (24) -
Mt 19:25 Lu 18:26,27 Joh 6:60

SEV Biblia, Chapter 10:24

Y los discípulos se espantaron de sus palabras; mas Jess respondiendo, les volvi a decir: ¡Hijos, cun difícil es entrar en el Reino de Dios, los que confían en las riquezas!

John Gill's Bible Commentary

Ver. 24. And the
disciples were astonished at his words , etc..] For they expected, in a little while, that the kingdom of the Messiah would be set up in great worldly pomp and grandeur; and that all the rich men of the nation would come into it, become his subjects, and join to support the glory and splendour of it: but Jesus answereth again, and saith unto them, children : it was common with the Jews to call the disciples, or scholars of the wise men, children; hence that saying of theirs f200 , ynb ywrq ydymlth , the disciples are called children, which they prove from ( 2 Kings 2:3) ( Isaiah 8:18). How hard is it for them that trust in riches to enter into the kingdom of God ! This he said partly to confirm what he had before said, at which his disciples were astonished; and partly to explain it, as that he was to be understood of such that trusted in their riches, set their hearts upon them, and placed their hope and happiness in them: and the great difficulty, or rather impossibility of such, at least continuing so, entering into the kingdom of God, is still more strongly expressed in the following words.

Matthew Henry Commentary

Verses 23-31 -
Christ took this occasion to speak to his disciples about the difficulty of the salvation of those who have abundance of this world Those who thus eagerly seek the wealth of the world, will never rightl prize Christ and his grace. Also, as to the greatness of the salvatio of those who have but little of this world, and leave it for Christ The greatest trial of a good man's constancy is, when love to Jesu calls him to give up love to friends and relatives. Even when gainer by Christ, let them still expect to suffer for him, till they reac heaven. Let us learn contentment in a low state, and to watch agains the love of riches in a high one. Let us pray to be enabled to par with all, if required, in Christ's service, and to use all we ar allowed to keep in his service.

Robertson's NT Word Studies

10:24 {Were
amazed} (eqambounto). Imperfect passive. A look of blank astonishment was on their faces at this statement of Jesus. They in common with other Jews regarded wealth as a token of God's special favor. {Children} (tekna). Here alone to the Twelve and this tender note is due to their growing perplexity. {For them that trust in riches} (tous pepoiqotas epi tois cremasin). These words do not occur in Aleph B Delta Memphitic and one Old Latin manuscript. Westcott and Hort omit them from their text as an evident addition to explain the difficult words of Jesus.
