John Gill's Bible Commentary
Ver. 11. And when they bring you unto the synagogues , etc.] Of the Jews, to be examined and scourged by the rulers of them: and unto magistrates and powers ; Heathen ones; the Persic version reads, princes and kings; and the Ethiopic version, princes, kings, and judges; (see Matthew 10:18) Take ye no thought how, or what thing ye shall answer, or what ye shall say ; be not anxiously concerned, neither about the manner, nor the matter of your answer, apology, and defence: in the first part of this clause, the Syriac, Persic, and Ethiopic versions, only read, how; and the Arabic version only, what; (see Gill on Matthew 10:19).
Matthew Henry Commentary
Verses 1-12 - A firm belief of the doctrine of God's universal providence, and the extent of it, would satisfy us when in peril, and encourage us to trus God in the way of duty. Providence takes notice of the meanes creatures, even of the sparrows, and therefore of the smalles interests of the disciples of Christ. Those who confess Christ now shall be owned by him in the great day, before the angels of God. To deter us from denying Christ, and deserting his truths and ways, we ar here assured that those who deny Christ, though they may thus save lif itself, and though they may gain a kingdom by it, will be great loser at last; for Christ will not know them, will not own them, nor sho them favour. But let no trembling, penitent backslider doubt of obtaining forgiveness. This is far different from the determined enmit that is blasphemy against the Holy Ghost, which shall never be forgiven, because it will never be repented of.

12:11 {Be not anxious} (me merimnesete). First aorist active subjunctive with me in prohibition. Do not become anxious. See a similar command to the Twelve on their Galilean tour (#Mt 10:19f.) and in the great discourse on the Mount of Olives at the end (#Mr 13:11; Lu 21:14f.), given twice by Luke as we see. {How or what ye shall answer} (pws e ti apologesesqe). Indirect question and retaining the deliberative subjunctive apologesesqe and also eipete (say).
