Treasury of Scriptural Knowledge VERSE (41) - Lu 8:25 Mr 9:19 Joh 20:27 Heb 3:19; 4:2,11
SEV Biblia, Chapter 9:41 Y respondiendo Jess, dice: ¡Oh generacin infiel y perversa! ¿Hasta cundo tengo que estar con vosotros, y os sufrir? Trae tu hijo ac.
John Gill's Bible Commentary Ver. 41. And Jesus answering, said , etc.] To the father of the child, and those that were with him; and with a particular view to the Scribes and Pharisees, who had been insulting the disciples, and triumphing over them, because of their inability to cast out the evil spirit: for the words are not spoken to the disciples, as they might seem at first view to be, and as the Persic version renders them, and Jesus turned his face to the disciples, and said; but to the unbelieving Jews, O faithless and perverse generation, how long shall I be with you, and suffer you? bring thy son hither ; (See Gill on Matthew 17:17).
Matthew Henry Commentary Verses 37-42 - How deplorable the case of this child! He was under the power of a evil spirit. Disease of that nature are more frightful than such a arise merely from natural causes. What mischief Satan does where he gets possession! But happy those that have access to Christ! He can d that for us which his disciples cannot. A word from Christ healed the child; and when our children recover from sickness, it is comfortabl to receive them as healed by the hand of Christ.

Vincent's NT Word Studies 41. Faithless. See on Mark ix. 19.Perverse. See on Matt. xvii. 17. How long (ewv pote). Lit., until when. Suffer (anexomai). Better as Rev., bear with. See Acts xviii. 14; 2 Corinthians xi. 1. The literal meaning is to "bear up (ana) under."
9:41 {How long shall I be with you and bear with you?} (hews pote esomai pros humas kai anexomai humwn;). Here the two questions of #Mr 9:19 (only one in #Mt 17:17) are combined in one sentence. {Bear with} (anexomai, direct middle future) is, hold myself from you (ablative case humwn). {Faithless} (apistos) is disbelieving and perverse (diestrammene, perfect passive participle of diastrefw), is twisted, turned, or torn in two.
